Dr. Simone Schleper new co-editor-in-chief

Dr Simone Schleper (Maastricht University) will start as co-editor-in-chief of the Journal for the History of Knowledge per January 5, 2026. She joins Professor Sven Dupré (Utrecht University), and succeeds Dr Geert Somsen (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam/Maastricht University) as co-editor in chief.

Dr Schleper is assistant professor at Maastricht University in the history of science, technology, and the environment. She looks forward to advancing the journal’s interdisciplinary scope and focus on diverse forms of expertise, including local and non-Western knowledge systems, as well as the journal’s engagement with urgent themes such as sustainability, climate change, and environmental justice.

Dr Geert Somsen served as co-editor-in-chief from the journal’s founding in 2017, and has brought the journal to its present-day international academic importance. The editorial team warmly thank Dr Somsen for all his efforts and enthusiasm, which helped make the Journal for the History of Knowledge what it is today.
