Abstract

This essay explores some aspects of the future of the history of knowledge by reflecting on my ongoing research concerning the historical study of scientific journals in Japan. It places particular emphasis on the posthumanist approaches and uses of new digital technologies within the history of knowledge.

  • Kenji Ito, Kyoto University

    Kenji Ito is a historian at Kyoto University who explores the global history of knowledge, with a particular focus on Japan. He recently published a two-volume biography of Nishina Yoshio. His current research involves two major projects: the history of scientific journals and the global development of quantum physics.
